Sumo Robotics Resources
This page will provide information potentially useful to college and high school teachers and students, and club robotics participants wanting to engage in mini-sumo robotics.
1. First item posted: How to order sumo robotics components. (Excel file in pdf format.)
1A. This spreadsheet has links, and recent prices, which permit quick access to the on-line purchase of most of the components required to build a basic MarkIII sumo robot. Many of the parts come from junun.org. However, we do not use the MarkIII 'complete kit' provided by Junun. Rather our sumos are customized. In particular, we do not use a Parallax or Arduino microcontroller. Instead we use a PlugaPod, available from New Micros, Inc., as indicated in the provided pdf document.
1B. It is necessary to copy and paste the provided links into a web browser such as Mozilla Firfox, Google Chrome or Microsoft Internet Explorer. Sample software/code will be posted later.
2. Here is a usful reference on MiniSumo Robotics: Robot Sumo The Official Guide, by Pete Miles, published by McGraw-Hill Osborne, Copyright 2002, ISBN 0-07-222617-X.
