2010 Summer Camp

The  June 21 MiniSumo Robotics Camp, taught by myself (Dale Olson), and hosted by the UNI Physics Department, in Room 214 of Begeman Hall, has been completed, and it seemed like the campers had a great time!  Some have asked if there can be an 'Advanced Robotics' sequel during summer 2011.  My response to this is that we will strive to have several diversified high school robotics camps at UNI, through cooperation between three departments, Computer Science, Industrial Technology, and Physics.

The type of equipment that was provided to the campers is shown in the 'sumo order' list below.  An example piece of computer code that permitted students to experiment with motor control (Motor Code Tool) is also provided below.    Most of the content provided to the campers was distributed through eLearning, the University of Northern Iowa electronic course distribtuion system, so this is just a small sampling..

About sixteen Camp photos have been posted (July 12, 2010).  Click on the '2010 Sumo Robot Camp.' tab in the menu at the left. An additional drop-down menu will will appear, making available two different sets of photos. Click on those tabs to access the photos.

The 2011 'Camp Schedule', available in the 2011 Registration Form, is a concise listing of actual activities carried out by 2010 Robotics Camp students, based on daily journals provided to me by the eight 2010 high school robotics students.
